Functions & Weddings at Maxwell Winery

Thank you for considering Maxwell Winery as the setting for your successful event.   Our versatile Function Room, Terrace, and Cellar Door areas provide the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed and memorable occasion.   Constructed from limestone and old solid timber, the natural warmth of this space is complemented beautifully by large picture windows.   An impressive limestone open fireplace creates a striking focal point.   The views of McLaren Vale afforded by our elevated position are simply stunning, with guests surrounded by a vista of vines on gently rolling hills.   It is no wonder our wines taste so great...

With in-house commercial kitchen facilities and access to the best regional food, we can create stylish corporate events through to the most elaborate wedding receptions.   Come and visit the winery so that you can personally see the elegance, warmth and versatility of our facilities.   The winery is open 10am - 5pm daily.

A Wedding at Maxwell Winery

There are various ways to celebrate your wedding day here at the Winery.   Most couples choose to hold their ceremony and reception on the premises, providing family and friends with a relaxed continuity of the occasion.   This is easy to arrange, a ceremony looks superb when conducted outside on the Landing, where the Wedding Party form the centrepiece of a stunning panorama.   Some couples wish simply to hold their reception at Maxwell’s, as a lovely finish to their memorable day.   Naturally with any option, the number of guests and weather will be determining factors.   Whatever you choose, your Wedding Package will be hand-made, just like our wines.

Receptions

Each of the reception formats automatically includes the food & venue essentials:  private use of facilities, furniture, linen, glassware, crockery, cutlery, candelabras, cd player, menu, and staff.

Stand Up / Cocktail Style:
This format can accommodate up to 150 guests.   In warmer weather this type of reception is ideal, as the outdoor Terrace and Landing areas can be used to the full potential.   A range of hot and cold finger foods is provided as well as more substantial dishes.

Food & venue from $62.70 per person.   (Minimum of 60 guests, price per person reduces for 100+ guests.)

Sit Down Table Service:
Maxwell’s Function Room can seat up to 60 guests comfortably.   For larger groups, we can use both the Function Room and adjoining Cellar Door, seating 85 guests.   The magnificent limestone open fireplace separates the two rooms.   This full service package features the best regional ingredients across a range of choices in entrée and main course.   A perfect accompaniment to our acclaimed wines and meads.

Food & venue from $75.50 per person.   (40 - 60 guests.   Pricing and availability for more than 60 guests on request.) 

Importantly, each reception format includes the cutting and serving of the Wedding Cake for dessert, plus the provision of tea & coffee.   Note: pricing above is for receptions held in the calendar year 2008.  Please contact the winery for a quote based on your own specific requirements.

The difference with a wedding held at the Maxwell Winery is the attention to your personal requirements.   Each occasion held at the Winery is unique, and each wedding is hand-made.   So naturally, your package and pricing will be personalised to suit your needs.

To complete your special day, Maxwells can arrange for you a number of optional extras including:

Maxwell Wine & Mead Package

Your Reception Package can be accompanied by a selection of Maxwell Wines and Meads either as a complete package or on a consumption basis.

A Maxwell Wine & Mead Package is arranged to suit your personal needs, and is charged per guest at a rate determined by your choice of wines and meads to be served.   It includes unlimited glasses of your personal selection for the duration of the reception (6 hours maximum).

Please note: Beer is not included in the Maxwell Wine & Mead Package but is available for purchase from $6.00 per stubby.   Soft drinks are also available for purchase at the bar.

A feature of all weddings here at Maxwell Wines is the famous Maxwell Honey Mead (The Wedding Drink).   A delicious wine made by fermenting pure honey, it was believed to be a strong aphrodisiac in Viking culture.   In particular, newlyweds would drink mead for a month after their wedding, in the hope that they would conceive a child.   Known to the Vikings as the "honey-month", this has given rise to the tradition of a "honeymoon" that continues today.
