Tiers of Wisdom Grenache 2023

From our 1928 Grenache vines, planted in terraced rows following the contour of the hill, nurtured by time and terroir.  Soils vary from sandy loam in the bottom rows to limestone at the top.

Each section has been handpicked separately to capture the essence of each tier and showcase the vineyard's nearing 100 years of wisdom, a testament to nature's guidance.

Picked in three sections of the 39 terraced rows on the estate’s contour-planted 1928 grenache block, with each component building layers in the final blend. There’s a little whole bunch here, about 20% of the bottom section, the second largest component, underwriting this with a gentle lift of white pepper and spices, lending a savoury tension to nose and palate. There’s immense charm in the perfume, with red florals, bergamot, rosehip, wild raspberries and red licorice. Lacking overt girth or heft, and the better for it, this nonetheless has considerable presence and gravitas, with tannins feeling assertive yet unforced. It’s an excellent expression, and the score could push higher with more time in bottle. Time will tell.
