2019 Kangaroo Island Shiraz
Approximately 90 kilometres south of the Maxwell winery, Kangaroo Island is a cooler maritime climate compared to our McLaren Vale vineyards, with the surrounding sea playing a key role in moderating daily temperatures. There are strong, cool, fresh breezes coursing through the vineyards almost constantly. The property is at sea level, and the Shiraz vines are over 20 years old.
Often distinguished by a slightly lighter body, and a unique cracked-pepper aroma attributed to growing at a much slower rate than Shiraz on the mainland.
As the vineyard was lost to the bushfires of December 2019, we hope you will relish every last drop of this complex, beautiful cool-climate Shiraz with what few bottles remain.
